Another Christmas tradition here in Mainz, next to Christmas markets, St. Nicholas, the Adventskranz and Adventskalender is baking a lot of traditional Christmas pastries. 🤤The most popular one is probably „Lebkuchen" (Gingerbread), but common pastries around Christmas time are also the so called Spekulatius, Stollen, Baumkuchen and Plätzchen. 🍪 Here is a 'Plätzchen' receipt to get you in the original German Chrstimas spirit: 200g Butter 250g Sugar 2 Packages Vanilla Sugar 3 Egg yolk 500g flour 2 small spoons backing powder 1 big spoon milk Mix everything with 3/4 of the flour, then knead in the rest of flour. Afterwards let the dough rest for some while in the fridge. In the end you can cut out the biscuits and bake them 15min (175-200C), dip them in melted chocolate and Enjoy!
