Alongside great Americans at a Senate event marking the passage of the Anwar Sadat Centennial Celebration Act— Congresswoman Jane Harmon, Senator Orrin Hatch, & Congressman Nick Rahall. Thank you to the Shafik Gabr Foundation and the Anwar Sadat Congressional Gold Medal Commission for organizing.

My dream is to become a great transformational leader. God is working & I’ve started tasting my dream routine. I feel challenged yet motivated and inspired. Today I woke up excited to make a presentation at the World Bank! Yes, I did. Great success. I made a walk of pride after the discussion with the classical global thinkers and influencers. It was surreal. After WB, next on my schedule was a meeting with Senators and their staffers. I stepped into the Senate Office and I felt the glue of power. My village mates would arguably stone you for lying, after you’ve narrated this true story, because to them it’s an impossibility. I told my friend on arrival; hey, this is where H.E Obama sat while representing Illinois. It was as if I’d add more. Instead, I started asking; Who’s that? What about that one? Looking at portraits of Senate Committee Chairpersons pinned on the wall. It seemed a busy day, orientation of newly elected senators was ongoing and usual political debate was heard in the long legit corridors. One of the staffers asked me, which State are you from? “Keirasya Sembabule, Central Uganda, Do you know it?” That was my humble response! You can guess his answer! But, following my response to his question, I felt the power of God! I realized that everything is possible. From Sembabule to the Senate! From Keirasya to World Bank Brown Bag discussions! More still, my evening included a dinner at the National Press Club from where Nelson Mandela addressed the World in 1994, a year so special to me.

A productive day on Capitol Hill with Drs. George Saade and Cynthia Gyamfi-Bannerman discussing the importance of research in pregnant and lactating women.
