M U L T I T A S K I N G ⠀ ⠀ Are we really getting more done doing more than one thing at once? ⠀ ⠀ I don't think I am. ⠀ ⠀ I have so many tabs open, reading lists that are exploding with articles, and email folders bursting with advice + how-tos. ⠀ ⠀ Just when I actually get enough momentum + inspiration to move forward on a project it seems like the ideal moment to go through those emails, implement some expert advice or 'check Instagram/Facebook for just a second, really...' ⠀ ⠀ Yikes! ⠀ ⠀ Multitasking is killing me. It makes me feel tired, confused, stressed + just plain gross. ⠀ ⠀ Worse → I'm not actually getting anything done! ⠀ ⠀ I know that this is a controversial topic because some people think they're really excellent multitaskers, but I'd argue that our power is in the present moment and, therefore, in engaging fully with whatever it is that we're working on. ⠀ ⠀ I've only been implementing this idea of boredom into my life for a couple days and I've accomplished more than I usually do. I've closed all the tabs on my computer. I've also deleted a lot of the bookmarks that I had saved for what feels like 'neverday' instead of someday... ⠀ ⠀ The best part? I feel more relaxed. I don't open my computer to see what feels like an ever-growing, unconscious to-do list. Every time I open it is up it's a fresh slate to work on whatever I feel most inspired to do. There's less distractions and, therefore, more time + space. #AMEN ⠀ ⠀ I'm curious to hear ⇒ What's your relationship to multitasking? Do you do it? Do you like it? How does it make you feel? ⠀ ⠀ If you feel called to, please share below! ♡⠀ ⠀ PS. This is part of a series of posts about Boredom. You tired because you are stuck in the grind… and not paying attention to what LIGHTS YOU UP. You are a badass high-achieving businesswoman and a change-maker ... Where is your SPARK? If you are ignoring it we need to talk. I’m not judging… my passion is helping you get fired up.
The artist in me loves having an office that is neatly set up with a small number of beautiful and functional work tools. When I walk into the space, I think about how everything is in its place, and is visually balanced, and that makes me feel calm and ready to focus. Is there anything about your workspace that is intentionally set up because of the way it makes you feel?
I sneak greenery in every one of my designs 🌱 Why? Adding plant life to your home: 🌱 brings the outdoors in 🌱 boosts your happiness 🌱 lowers blood pressure 🌱 improves indoor air quality Aside from all that goodness right there — I love adding greens (even faux) because it adds so much LIFE and character to a room. In my opinion, every room needs an organic element. Whether it be a statement “root” coffee table that has a free form shape ... or incorporating a bold tree in a corner. Natural elements add a layer of warmth and make your house feel like home. Drop a 🌱 in the comments if you agree! 👇🏼
