I mean it when I say this “Luxury in simplicity” because that’s what I feel about this #tablesit" at Baltimore County, Maryland - 1880884628867202641

*LUXURY IN SIMPLICITY* I mean it when I say this “Luxury in simplicity” because that’s what I feel about this . These Masala Dal Idlis served with a piping hot bowl of fragrant and flavorful sambhar made with homegrown eggplants, tomatoes and chillies and some Peanut Coriander Chutney was so humble yet so dreamy. As usual, I played around with P’s @preetishanand as props one more time and boy is he getting better at this hand posing business😍😘 MASALA CHANA DAL IDLIS INGREDIENTS 1. Chana Dal- 1 cup 2. Rice (I used idli rice/ ponni rice )- 2/3 cup 3. Methi / fenugreek seeds- 1 tsp 4. Grated ginger - 2 tbsp 5. Turmeric- 2-3 tsp 6. Hing/ Asofetida- 1/4 tsp 7. Roasted cumin powder - 1 tsp 8. Chopped green chillies- 2 tbsp 9. Fine chopped coriander leaves- 1 tbsp 10. Salt to taste 11. Ghee for greasing the Idli moulds 12. A pinch of Baking soda (added just before steaming the Idlis) METHOD- 1. Soak the rice & also Soak the Dal + fenugreek seeds for 5-6 hours or overnight. 2. Grind the soaked rice and the soaked dal to a smooth paste after 5-6 hours using a lil water as required. 3. Let the ground batter sit covered to ferment for 5-6 hours. 4. Add the turmeric, salt, roasted cumin powder, grated ginger, chillies, chopped coriander, salt, a pinch of baking soda. 5. Grease the Idli moulds with ghee and then fill up with the batter and steam for 10-12 minutes only. Do not over steam because then it will dry out the Idlis and make them tough and dry. 6. Serve with Hot Sambhar and any Chutney of your liking. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #desispices
