Cows are constantly blamed as being one of the worst contributors to global warming however the statistics are blown way out of proportion. Fossil fuels are by far the biggest cause of pollution ⁣⁣ ⁣🐂⁣ Intact cows and livestock can be used to reduce carbon and breakdown methane. Desertification is affecting up to 41% of the earths land. It is a global problem ⁣⁣ ⁣🐂⁣ There is only one solution to counter both these problems. That is to use rotational grazing. This is where livestock mimic the movement of herds in nature which prevent overgrazing in an area. The livestock then fertilise the soil making it more bio-diverse, allowing regeneration of plant life. This also allows for the soil to absorb rain water containing carbon. Methane is also broken down during this process ⁣⁣ The livestock can also be used to feed people around the areas of desertification⁣⁣ ⁣🐂⁣ From a health perspective having healthy grass fed livestock is essential as well. Animal products are the most nutrient dense foods in the world. The fat soluble vitamins meat contains are essential for good brain and physical health. The mass production of processed mono crops destroys the soil and are the cause of many diseases that weren’t around before these industrial produced crops ⁣⁣ ⁣🐂⁣ Animals are critical to our food system and it is about time we use livestock in the right way. Just to make this clear, I do do support mass factory farming or badly treated livestock methods. ⁣⁣ ⁣🐂⁣ I got a lot of information on this subject from @sustainabledish ⁣⁣ #ethicalfarming ⁣⁣

It’s been a long and cold winter, and unfortunately we lost 2 of our hives😔 in combination with the bad weather, I think we, as beekeepers, slacked off a little in the fall while preparing them for their winter journey and for that, I feel terribly guilty. That being said, we are not giving up anytime soon and we already have new packages on the way! Let’s tackle this journey again and help 😏🐝💛

Can we talk about Mohair? I've always loved Mohair... ... But let's be honest. Over the years Mohair has lended itself a bad reputation. It is thought of as being itchy and uncomfortable - however, I hope to change this perception. . If you have a Mohair sweater that feels this way it is most likely due to poor quality fibers AND, I truly believe, that at the end of the day it is all about the spinning & blending process. What a difference this makes in the outcome of finished garments. . I am currently using fine, kid Mohair sourced from our incredible sustainable farm partner @buckwheatbridge. It is delicate and smooth. If only you could feel these raw fiber curls! I'm obsessed. . I am also blending it with cormo wool that has the similar characteristics. The yarns will be soft, lofty, and have a whisper of a feathery feel. . Just one more week and sample yarns will be finished! I can't wait to show you all the results. Stay tuned! ~ Kalli, Founder and Designer . . . . . #ethicalfarming
