* Part 3 - What Your Prenatal Vitamin Might Be Missing * . Now I have to start off by saying that it is very likely that your prenatal vitamin contains around 600 IU of vitamin D, which is great, however - this may not be enough if you're already deficient in vitamin D. . Vitamin D is something that I harp on a lot with my fertility/pregnancy clients because vitamin D deficiency can be a contributor to infertility. Due to where we are located, most Canadians (and those living in the Northern US states) are likely deficient in this vitamin. . Vitamin D deficiency during pregnancy puts you at higher risk for having a low birth weight infant, developing gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. I recommend discussing supplemental doses with your personal health practitioner to determine what would be appropriate for you. It is a great idea to get your levels checked before trying to conceive or as soon as you can once you find out you're pregnant so that you can adjust your supplementation amount, as needed. . Growing up, I remember my mom always stressing the importance of not wasting food. I rolled my eyes then, but I’m laughing now because her habits have rolled over to me. Had some leftover veggies that were about to go bad and some chicken thighs in the freezer so I turned on some country music and got cookin’. I’ll have to say, I’m a cooking over baking gal. A little this a little that and you’ve got yourself a 💣 MEAL. What went down 👉🏻 cooked 4 slices of bacon in the skillet. Added in sliced zucchini and peppers + garlic and loads of spinach until tender. Added in chicken thighs + pink salt, tons of pepper and @traderjoes onion salt. Seared both sides of the chicken for about 2-3 min. Transferred to the over at 400F for about 25 min. Topped with goat cheese 🧀 • • • blogger
