In December of 2017, Trump passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The Bill was a 1.5 trillion dollar tax cut and the first major change to the tax code since Reagan’s 1986 tax reform. Ever since the bill started making its way through Congress, Democrats have claimed that it only benefits the wealthy, raises the tax burden on the those who aren’t wealthy, and would greatly increase the deficit without causing any noticeable increase in growth. These claims are mainly false and were constructed to convince people that this bill wouldn’t benefit them. The most blatant of these lies is that it doesn’t benefit the middle class. It reduces their tax rate, doubles the child tax credit from $1,000 to $2,000, and nearly doubled the standard exemption. These will all impact the middle class and poor. The bill cut the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%, and this is obviously a much more competitive corporate rate. They are correct when they say that it will increase the deficit. The deficit is on the rise, and a spending cut may be necessary to keep it sustainable. The tax cuts, combined with deregulation, have led to the highest economic optimism since 2000, the highest job satisfaction level since 2005, accelerated gdp growth , the highest wage growth since before the Great Recession, and it has continued the existing trend of low unemployment. Unemployment is now at an all time low. #kavanaugh
