📚 Review of Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple ☆Things I loved about this book: ... ~ the characters: funny, flawed, quirky, loveable ... ~ the setting: Seattle is one of my favorite US cities and it's unique qualities were described perfectly and hilariously ... ~the story: fresh, original, and wonderfully witty ... This book is now on my favorite books list and I think it deserves to be rated in hearts so: ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ 5/5 and I will be recommending it to everyone as a humorous quick read that is heartwarming, funny, and has all the feels. @mariasemple@booksparks
Fun read that I wanted to finish before the movie comes out in August. Not going to write much about this plot because I feel I one of the last people to read this novel. 🤪 . . . I will share that I was mislead by the initial summary of the book. I was expecting a large part of story to be about where Bernadette went and what caused her to disappear. After reading more than half the novel, it bece quite obvious why she left and where she went to...still plan on seeing the movie to see all the quirky behavior. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ . . . #WheredyougoBernadette #mariasemple #bookstagr#bookstagrmer#lovetoread#ilovebooks#bibliophile#bookish#booklover#bookishextrovert#bookie#bookworm#bookaholic#bookalicious#bookaddict#booknerd#bookblogger#booksbooksbooks#bookhangover#bookbinge#bookpics#booktography#bookphoto#igreads#selflove
I have a fun tradition of reading my favorite books during stressful times. I mean, who can worry about their dumpster fire life filled with mismatching eyebrows when Elizabeth is destroying Darcy’s love in the best rejection speech ever penned? ⠀ I say all this because this week has been no bueno. So I turned to the Queen of chaos, Bernadette to make it all better. ⠀ Bernadette is my snarky brilliant hero. Through a series of hilarious misunderstandings, she disappears to escape involuntary psychiatric hospitalization. I know this sounds rather serious, but it’s a hoot. ⠀ If you haven’t read this yet, lucky you. You get to experience the giggle-inducing mishaps for the first time. My second time around I listened to the audiobook and it was PERFECTION. ⠀ Audrey and Soo-Lin’s cheery delusions were meant to be heard. ⠀ What’s your go to stress read?
"The sooner you learn it’s on you to make life interesting, the better off you’ll be" - Where'd You Go Bernadette - Maria Semple... . . . I'm about a hundred pages in and this shit is B A N A N A S! I freaking love Bee Fox and her mother Bernadette, another book with an interesting writing style, it's so fresh and breaks all conventions of story telling. Needless to say I'm obsessed!
