In terms of reproductive health, I have stopped using hormonal birth control due to the side effects of hormones on a woman's body! I took matters into my own hands after my sisters #myomectomy . The women in my family have struggled with uterine fibroids. Among other issues. 👋🏽 . Going back, I remember how much my ONGYN pushed birth control on me at my postpartum 8 week visit. I remember I expressed that I was breastfeeding and that I didn't want to take birth control. He's like "it's okay, it's safe!" . Is it? I don't believe it it! I'm putting chemicals into my body, and then I'm passing that to my baby VIA breast milk . How is it that you can transmit other things in the breastmilk like alcohol , and not a hormonal pill . : I didn't take it! I also stopped using tampons during my . Because my body felt awkward . Learning about my body, and how amazing it can be makes me feel sexy and empowered ! . . I encourage everyone to listen to the @las.doctoras Podcast and search for the episode with @cindy_luquin for more information . . Being a woman is hard and beautiful. You possess a vessel to give life to another human, but that can also house painful masses that make your life debilitating. For the past 3 months I have lived with a the size of a 4 month old pregnancy. Within those months my anxiety has been tested, my confidence took a hit, friendships and relationships were and continue to be tested, my health spiraled out of control and I felt like I was living in someone else's body. I no longer appreciated my body, I hated what it had become. As I lie here, 2 days out of surgery I am grateful and baffled by the resilience of the human body. My strength is improving, my mental health improving, and my overall appreciation for my body has been restored. Tell the women in your life that you love them today, we go through some hellish shit and still come out strong. I am woman, I am strong. #myomectomy
