😍 Aren't they beautiful?! And we can call them free-range, organic, and happy... because our hens have the run of our backyard, are fed an organic feed, eat all kinds of fresh greens and bugs, and truly are loved and spoiled pets! . 🥚 If you're in need, we are being overloaded! $4.50 a dozen or $4 a dozen, if you bring your own carton, or bring one of our cartons back . {Post in celebration of National Poultry Day on the 19th and National Agriculture Day on the 21st}

Did you know that the 19th March was #NationalPoultryDay? The staff and residents of Langwith Lodge love their chickens every day of the year, but gave them extra fuss for the occasion. They've been such welcome additions to the home, and brighten the residents' days no end

I keep writing and rewriting this. I have been sharing more personal stuff lately and it feels really good. Having ptsd I’ve been learning through therapy and determination how to have healthy emotional responses and what it means to change unhealthy patterns of thinking that have been instilled in me since I was a kid. Part of the process has been cleaning out the things I don’t like about myself (things that aren’t my fault, things that are my fault, and some things that I just didn’t have true understanding of) and it’s messy and hard and for awhile I went through grief and loss and depression, always feeling like “ok I’m all cleaned out it can start getting better anytime now”. But waiting to feel better was fruitless. It wasn’t until I started doing the work to fill the empty space with self worth and happiness and kindness that I really felt what I’ve been waiting for. I don’t want to be fake happy anymore and I’ve learned I don’t have to be. My life is beautiful and my family is my heart. Even then I still face being sad, or angry, I miss people that I love so much it hurts and I still deal with life situations like taking the dog to the vet and spending hundreds of dollars in tests to find out he has gas (that was yesterday🤦🏼‍♀️) The difference between now and the past is that I finally understand that I have to power to make myself happy and change what I’m feeling to be more positive and full of light in my everyday life. I can’t say it enough but learning that being kind to myself first is the most impactful way to be kind to other people. I’ve always worried about sharing personal feelings for fear of being judged and I realized that’s because I was one of the most judgmental people I knew. I don’t want to be that person anymore.I want to be a person who is encouraging and understanding and also aware of what is fair to myself and boundaries that are important in my life. I wish I was good at poetry because being direct about how I feel is hard but it feels important so I’ll keep sharing. Also here’s a picture of Lorraine and I on #nationalpoultryday because chickens make me very happy💛

Okay, I’m a few days late on this, but here’s a post I think is fitting in honor of National Poultry Day, which was officially on March 19th! Here’s “The Barnyard Scene” from The Ugly Duckling, in Classic Storybook Fables. The available original oil on a panel is 20” x 24,” and Studio prints of this image were also made in 3 sizes. See profile for web address and more information. #nationalpoultryday
