So, for the longest time, I have really struggled with appreciating my body. I know, I know, probably sounds weird seeing as how I posted my digitals the other day, in a swim suit. Oh, and me walking in Times Square, in my underwear. But, there’s a reason I did those things, other than trying to get exposure and build my brand and a horde of other professional reasons. I did those things, and posted those pictures because I am forcing myself to look at myself. β€’ β€’ β€’ You’re probably thinking, β€œIf you’re forcing yourself to look at yourself, why did you need to post it? Why not just keep them on your phone or something?” Well, the truth is, I don’t look at pictures of myself like that unless I’m on my instagram page. I delete MOST pictures of myself off of my phone almost IMMEDIATELY after taking them. Why? Because I always find something wrong. I had to retake my digitals because I forgot to take ONE shot and I changed my hair color a little bit. I sent them out to some agencies over the weekend, but didn’t actually LOOK at them like that until today. I started obsessing over the eczema on my arms, the bags under my eyes, stressing about whether I looked BORED, the fact that my tummy was poking a little bit. Then I started going through other models’ pages and tried to figure out how I could do better, look better, etc. JUST CONSTANT COMPARISONS. It just hit me that I really try to avoid looking at myself because it always results in me taking myself apart. β€’ β€’ β€’ I am always finding new things to be upset about when it comes to my appearance, but I spoke to one of my close friends @brithechocolatebarbie today and she told me that I have to stop comparing myself to others. I am me. No one else. I cannot even begin to understand who I am if I’m consistently lining up my actions and appearance with someone who’s not ME. I have to remind myself every day, I am fine the way I am. β€’ β€’ β€’ THIS IS NOT A SOB STORY. This is not a post where y’all need to feel bad for LNDN. This is a post about recognizing your weaknesses and facing them in the most bold way possible. I post these pictures so I can see the REAL me and deal with it and LOVE it.
