Looking for more ways to turn on your parasympathetic nervous system? . Sensual massage can be a wonderful way to find pleasure without the pressure to be turned on, have penetrative sex, or touch your partner's genitals. Bringing massage to the bedroom is a great way to regain trust and confidence in your body and in the actions of your partner. It encourages you to relax and let go: instead of getting hung up in the fear and worry. . Mix up a unique massage oil at home with essential oils of 3 drops Ylang Ylang (euphoric and an aphrodisiac), 4 drops Cedarwood (calming and uplifting), and 2 drops Vetiver (grounding and sedative) in a base of high quality vegetable oil (some of my favorites are coconut, avocado, and olive oil, which are also commonly found in most kitchen cupboards). Pour about 1 oz of vegetable oil in a small cup, add the drops of essential oil and use a knife to combine. If you have particularly cold hands, you can warm them by running them under warm water or by preparing a hot towel (which you can also use on your partner during the massage) and wrapping them around your hands before getting started. . To begin your massage: rub between your palms together to generate warmth and release the aromatic molecules of the essential oils into the air. Start with your partner's back, massage the whole length of the spine, massage the backs of the thighs and biceps, before gently massaging the front of the body: abdomen, chest; and the face: focusing on the sinuses around the sides of the nose, forehead/temples, and the neck to the collarbone. Allow your hands to be guided by gentle, respectful, and curious touch. . Activating your parasympathetic nervous system is a way to deeply relax your muscles and restore your body. Practicing pleasure and not pain is essential to establish greater safety for your brain. When there's more safety, you'll naturally experience less pain.

To Birth & Beyond Podcast Turns 1 today! 🎉🎧 🎙🎉 . When Jess first suggested we start this podcast - I never could have imagined where it’s taken us in just 1 year. We’ve loved sharing info and experts from around the world with topics about pelvic/core health, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and motherhood. PLUS we both have learned a lot in the process and are glad we could start discussions around topics that may not be the most comfortable to talk about but are SO needed.🖤 . Shout out to @jessiemundell who has been the BEST co host and who has pushed me to look deeper into my own journey through pregnancy, motherhood and as a women’s health physiotherapist.🖤 . Curious who’s been on the podcast so far? 👉🏼Click pic to see some of the amazing guests we’ve chatted with.✔️ . We couldn’t have made it here without YOU. Your comments, reviews, feedback and sharing episodes has helped the podcast get to where it is today with over 70,000 downloads!🖤 . Check out our mini anniversary episode to find out what’s in store for year 2 of TBAB! See link in profile under [podcast].🖤 . We’d love for you to tag us in an IG post story about your fave @tobirthandbeyondpodcast episode or a pic of you listening to the podcast!📸 . Cheers to year 2 🥂
