Extreme Networks brought me across the pond to Reading, UK for an awesome training event. Twenty four members of the EXTR EMEA team took the class and passed the exam. Biggest class and highest pass rate ever. Looking forward to changing the world together! #softwaredefinednetworking

Today I installed a software defined wide area network firewall, specifically the @ciscomeraki SD-WAN MX65 Firewall at a clients site. Lately we have been upgrading a lot of our clients with these newer devices. Never done much with software defined outside of learning the concepts in class. Every moment was a learning experience because of having no practical experience with them before. I didn’t know to configure them to allow cloud services such as email or domain controllers, hosted websites, site to site VPNs and more. However, that’s exactly what I did today. Preconfigured the device before installation allowing internet, email services, hosted websites, site to site VPN, etc. It worked flawlessly first attempt, all services were functional and working, probably faster and more efficient too because their previous fire wall was a pos. The experience and knowledge was valuable, I will be able to apply it to my senior design project next year and other future career endeavors. Feels good to working my ass off everyday and it paying off. Except last week, it was spring break. I was a lazy shii. I watched one of my favorite shows over again, Travelers (second photo). Played a shit ton of my current favorite game, Apex Legends (here’s a lil clip for ya). Also, you can hear Leo 😼 meow in the clip cause I recorded it w my phone.

This week I had 2 exams and 5 assignment/project due for my classes. Not only that, but right now I’m in the process of installing a new Cisco Meraki firewall mx84 into our network, but before I do that I basically have to redesign our entire network cause the employees before me just had it all fucked up. Network loops, phones get kicked off every once in a while, honestly the main problem was there were to many devices. Like to many routers/firewalls, switches, inactive redundant links, links that completely made no sense what so ever, configuration was just a total mess. And for the most part I’ve fixed a lot of this plus done a bunch of cable management so it’s looking so much nicer to. But back to the point, and the point is that I’ve been super busy. I’m a person with good time management but I literally was staying hours over at work cause I can’t work on it during production and services hours, worked the last three saturdays, and with all the homework and actual work I’ve had to stay up till 2-4am a couple nights and wake back up at 7am to work at 8. It’s been a long crazy week and so thankful for this weekend and just taking time to play some Apex Legends. This picture is of me staying up Thursday night till 4am working on two IT Project Management assignments in Microsoft project doing work breakdown structures and learning the Project software functionalities. Next week is spring break so ima be j chillin ✌🏼
