Attitude ✨ A friend of mine has a similar injury to mine - and is constantly complaining, looking at the limitations. Can’t understand how I can be so cheerful and active. 😢 It’s because I celebrate what I can do, how much better it is, that there is still scope for further improvement and that I’m getting comfortable with the adjustments I have to make permanently. Some of my movements are still wonky, misjudgment can hurt and I have yet to run down a set of stairs with that lovely rhythmic sound. My dislike of lunges is severe. BUT there’s so much that’s great: the boost to my upper body strength I got from being on crutches really helped my arm balances and inversions. I’m so much more aware of how movements are connected. And when I have a crazy day with several classes and lots of walking / cycling to do them, I’m grateful that I’m only dead tired but not in pain. And it’s fun to figure out how to do stuff that’s hard with a “stiff” ankle - so I can’t kick up to pincha, guess I’ll just straddle press from the start😅 If you think you can’t, you won’t! Make the most of what’s possible and enjoy that 💫 #yogarebel

✨self care Sunday ✨ Self care can be whatever you need in the moment. It doesn’t have to be the same every day and it doesn’t have to be for long. There are some days where no matter how much I know the benefit, I cant face yoga or meditation. There are some days where it doesn’t feel time to stop and completely rest. I always make sure though I do something that lights me up and makes me feel more like me. Today it’s working on my business. YES it’s technically work but I love it and today I know that what serves me most is moving my life forward so I’m responding to messages and envisioning where I’m going - for me today this is the self care I need. You know you best so whatever you need most today go do it 🙏🏻

8.1 million...that’s a third of Aussies...are regular consumers of traditional medicines...natural medicines. I am not a fan of referring to what are THE original medicines as...alternative. Mainstream...modern...pharmaceutical medicine certainly has well established its place and never before have humans been so medicated and medically intervened...unfortunately often in place of healthy eating and lifestyle. Our heavy indulgence in processed foods and beverages, hectic lives that run in direct opposition to the natural world, modern societies that produce and consume at all costs...mostly to the wellbeing of the masses...have seen us turn to the promises of quick fixes and chemical reliance...with little or no attention given to the cause. Traditional, natural medicines and practices bring us back to the cause...they place responsibility for our wellbeing and ability to thrive back in our own hands (or at least imo they should). It’s great we are ‘consuming’ natural medicines...it’s great the industry I have been in for 30 years is seeing its ‘consumerism’ grow. Yet...what I’d rather see is people choosing well the food and lifestyle they live. I’d rather see less: CRAP = Carbonated drinks + Refined sugar + Artificial flavourings & Alcohol + Processed foods, personal care and cleaning products. I’d rather see MORE sustainable organic farming, MORE local, fresh produce...LESS rush, busyness, drama and hype...MORE community based living...LESS things in bottles to prescribe...more things green and live and vital going from earth to table. The natural way...should not be the alternative. I’d love to see more prevention and less reliance on the wonders of modern medicine. Come home to the wisdom of your body...come home to listening in to your true needs. Embrace traditional and natural practices in all the ways that truly reflect harmonious living.
