I recently acquired and old Philips oscilloscope and have been playing around with the x deflection setting. I believe it can have a z axis added with a small modification, but first I need to do maintenance and recalibration. I’m waiting on a printed version of the service manual as the version online is a crappy scan with parts of pages missing.

My workplace wanted to trash this active speaker that we use for Friday bars. I asked if I could have it and brought it home today. After taking it apart I found a capacitor in the power supply with a leg broken off. I didn’t have a replacement at hand so I soldered a leg from a resistor to the cap and put everything back together. This will come in handy for my daughters birthday party 🎶🎉

On the bench today is this 500 power supply. It seems the -12V regulator had died, so I have ordered a some replacements.

My new... well, old 50MHz oscilloscope from the early 80s. Seems to be fully working. My plan is to use for restoring some 70s computers.

The Schilling 6412 Kontorcomputer (Office Computer) is from the early 80s. As far as I know, it was sold in configurations up to 1Mb of ram and up to 80Mb of hard disk storage. It supported 8 terminals and was targeted small to medium sized businesses.

I spend a little time on my that I started building last summer. Unfortunately I soldered in some 14 pin sockets for some 16 pin logic ICs. I’m all out of 16 pin sockets so I guess I can turn my attention to the serial card while I wait for the sockets to arrive.

Today’s mail delivery: a soldering iron stand that is of so low quality that even though I didn’t expect much, I still got disappointed. A bag of din connectors that doesn’t fit, though the pin number I correct and some flux pens I now expect to be fake 🙄 . I guess you get what you pay for, right? 😂

And it’s alive. I found some software that was able to write adf images to floppies using a cable connected to the parallel port. A little soldering and I t worked like a charm.

This Teac 5.25 inch drive has been tugged away in a basement for 20+ years. I’m unsure if it has been in use for the past 30. It originates from a XT clone that my brother had in the ‘80s. The drive motor did not spin when a disk was inserted but was stuck because the lubricant was dried out. I’ve lubricated it again, cleaned the heads and it’s able to read some of the old disks I have lying around.

I’m currently in the process of restoring this to its former beauty. It’s a computer build around 1973 by the danish company “Regnecentralen” (Computing center) and was used for teaching programming basics. So far we have identified that all the switches were corroded so I have replaced them. It has passed the smoke test, but no further testing has been done yet. Fingers crossed 🤞
