Here’s what I created today. It’s oil pastel and acrylic ink. The model is Lamont, he belongs to my Uncle Allen and Aunt Kate. Thank you for the handsome model. Lamont is a sweet boy. This is my marker drawing named "Beautiful Little Ruby Throated Hummingbird" Beautiful Little Ruby Throated Hummingbird was created as a request from my mother. She wanted a hummingbird picture to hang in her home. I created this drawing with marker and colored pencil. I chose to draw a Ruby Throated Hummingbird since this hummingbird and my family are native to Pennsylvania. Hummingbirds are beautiful and fun to watch, it is amazing how they can hover and speed around through the air. Copyright © 2016 Jennifer L. Norman ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. Just finished this mixed medium painting of a Yorkshire Terrier. It’s a commission job. This one was a challenge because of the long hair but also very good for me to paint. Here’s another practice oil pastel drawing. This is the one I posted the other day on my Facebook page that was partially finished. Here’s the finished drawing. I hope you like it. I know I really like this one. Trees are awesome and of course I love the color green! Reminds me of spring, summer and everything alive! I had hoped to paint or draw an hour a day but unfortunately that hasn’t work out that way for me. Seems like something always comes up during the times I plan to draw. Sometimes life seems so hectic. I am sure others feel the same way. However I will continue to practice and post my work. Have a fantastic day all of my wonderful followers, friends and family! This is my acrylic painting named “Colorful Pink Skull". I have been asked several times if I created this art for the Day of the Dead celebration. I actually had no idea what that was until I started to research it, as I researched and saw images, I realized that it is very similar to the images for this celebration. The actual inspiration for this painting was my step-daughter and granddaughter,it came about as a result of a birthday gift for my step-daughter from her three children. I instructed the grandkids to paint a gray background on a canvas board and then each one of them could put their hand prints on the background with different shades of pinks and purples. Since I had a lot of the gray color left over I decided instead of wasting the paint that I would create a painting of my own. I used the leftover gray paint on this painting. As I was creating the background I thought, I know what I can paint, since my step-daughter and granddaughter both love skulls, I would paint a skull. I love flowers and my step-daughter does as well so why not incorporate them into my painting. Also their favorite color is pink, that is how I got the colorful pink skull. I really enjoyed creating this painting because it was off the cuff, no real planning, it just kind of happened. Copyright © 2016 Jennifer L. Norman ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. My watercolor painting of an abstract butterfly. This was fun painting. I have been told it looks like a tattoo. That wasn’t intensional. These are some of my favorite colors too! I love greens and blues! © 2017 Jennifer L. Norman ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may not reproduce, distribute, or transmit any of my images, without prior written permission from me. Thank you.

This is a watercolor painting I created a few years ago. I named her tree lady. This is one of the first watercolor painting I did. I struggled with it but got through it. The only subject I find easier to paint in watercolor is animals. Treelady was a creation of my imagination. Copyright © 2017 Jennifer L. Norman ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. This is number 5 of 30 of my painting a day series. Trying to keep it as close to an hour as I can. I want to take this time to learn new mediums and try painting different subject matters then I am used to. Another reason is so I am not so critical of my work and myself. I have only painted one other landscape scene in watercolor so I am not very good at it but I thought I would give it another try. Watercolor is totally different then acrylics. I find acrylic is much easier for me, if you make a mistake in acrylic you just paint over it and your mistake is gone. In watercolor if you make a mistake it’s forever part of your painting. Oh yeah I painted outside an it’s February 6th and it was about 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Last week it was 2 degrees Fahrenheit. This weather is crazy! Here’s to learning something new! thank you 🍄my best friend @youhadmeatthumbprint and @underthehorizon_uth for you positive influence and motivation. I love you!

Since I didn’t keep my 4th drawing to one hour, I figured I’d make a quick sketch of one of my brother-in-laws cows back at the farm. When we walk back to the farm to watch them they all come running to the fence. So cute! Copyright © 2019 Jennifer L. Norman ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. This is my 4th one hour painting. Actually this one took my about three hours because I started out using watercolors and didn’t like the way it was looking on this new paper I just bought. So I switched to acrylic ink and when I started using that all went to crap. The paint didn’t want to stay on the paper. I didn’t give up, I kept going, I hope the paint stay on the paper. Time will tell. Ugh. This painting frustrated me. Lol. I want to complete 30 paintings in 30 days. I need reference photos for my new paintings. If you have photos you personally took and would like to share with me I would really appreciate it! Thank you! Please join me in my new endeavors! I know my best friend Cathleen from @underthehorizon_uth is going to join me. She actually joined me today; while I was painting she created her prayer thumbprints, her prayer thumbprints can be found at @youhadmeatthumbprint Copyright © 2019 Jennifer L. Here’s a preview of my third one hour painting. I am waiting until tomorrow to post a full picture. The lighting in my new work area is not so good when it’s dark outside so tomorrow I will take a picture in the natural light and post. But here’s a close up of my painting, this is only a little spot in the painting. Check out my page tomorrow for the full painting. By creating these new paintings I am hoping this will help me not be so critical of my own art work. They may not look great but my hope is it will retrain my brain to like my artwork no matter how it looks. This one is mixed medium but mostly acrylic inks, these are new to me so I don’t have a clue how to use them yet. I am struggling but will keep practicing. I want to complete 30 paintings in 30 days. This is my original watercolor painting named "Tobias the Zebra". I painted this zebra from a picture I took at a Lake Tobias Wildlife Park, which is where I got the idea for the zebras name. It was nice to use my own photo as my reference photo for this artwork. Usually I buy reference photos for a lot of my animal paintings. It is very gratifying knowing it was mine from concept, to the reference photo, to the finished painting. I hope to someday soon have a good camera so I can take my own reference photos. My husband got a print of this one framed and it’s hanging in our house. He has actually gotten four of my pictures framed and they are hanging in the same room. I think my hubby likes my art. 🥰 © 2017 Jennifer L. Norman ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may not reproduce, distribute, or transmit any of my images, without prior written permission from me. Thank you.
