Daniel has a lot of qualities that I wish I had in myself. • • We’re so opposite but it somehow works out perfectly. • • Daniel can make friends with strangers in an instant. I’m more guarded with strangers (unless I’ve had a few drinks, then I’m your bestie). • • Daniel will try any new food you put in front of him. I tend to order the same thing over and over. • • Daniel forgives very easily. I can’t forgive that easily. • • Daniel loves to go with the flow. I need to know what we’re doing two weeks ahead of time. • • Daniel doesn’t let things he can’t control, bother him. I fear everything out of my control. • • He calms me and straightens me out when I need it. Sometimes it’s not about finding someone who loves everything you do. It’s about finding a person who’s willing to work through the differences to make something so odd be so right.
Girl, you better shine on Hollywood Blvd! 🤩 • • We had a blast park hopping at Disney World today! It was definitely a hot day and Joaquin definitely had some melt downs, but the moments where he smiles and dances make it all worth it. • • I always say that I don’t spend a lot of money on clothes or accessories because I rather much spend my money on vacations where we can make memories. Clothes, purses, shoes and jewelry only last so long. These memories last forever. • • Make sure you guys tune into my stories today to see our adventures! Let me know which part of our day was your favorite! • • So far, mine was the Frozen sing along with Joaquin ❤️
Pumpkin Patches make me so happy. • • I’d be even happier if I didn’t have a heat stroke after two minutes of being at one in Florida ☠️ • • California, I seriously miss you. • • Oh, you were sipping on hot cocoa at your pumpkin patch? Can’t relate. Oh, you had to wear long sleeves and scarves that day too? Still can’t relate. • • Livin’ the dream over here 🙄 Can’t wait for a 90 degree Halloween day.
I know there are probably hundreds and hundreds of one armed mommas out there killing the game, but to see it in person is so much different. • • I admire this woman as an athlete but I enjoyed seeing her as a mother more than I did seeing her dominate the waves. Her athleticism is undeniable but her being a mother speaks volumes for all women out there. • • I had yet to see another momma do momma things with one arm in person. I would sit back and immediately be overcome with happiness just watching her be a mother. • • Not only did it make me miss Joaquin but it reminded me of how amazing women truly are. I watched how she picked up and carried her kids. I watched how she spoke to them. I watched how she always made time for them despite everything that was going on. • • We are super humans in every way possible. Being a mother is tough and having one less limb, you would think, would make it that much tougher....but it doesn’t. • • We’ll find a way to get it done despite the smallest of set backs. A mothers love is truly the strongest power we have. • • I learned a lot from Bethany that day. We didn’t talk for hours, but we didn’t have to. I connected with her on another level that goes beyond speaking words. You’re an incredible woman Bethany. Keep killing it out there. We’re all watching and learning. • • You women amaze me every day. If you know or follow some incredible women, drop them below! I’d love to see them!
This life is so beautiful. • • If I was ever given the option to get my arm back, I’d say no. To me, that loss was a blessing. • • The doors it’s opened, the people it’s led me to, the life it’s given me.....is all worth it. • • An arm is a small price to pay for the lessons and blessings it’s given me in return. • • I know it may be hard to see the good in tragedy, but it’s there. The good is always there. Look a little harder. You may feel like there’s nothing but bad in your life right now, but once you see the slightest bit of good...you’ll forget the bad was ever there. • • Always count your blessings first. My biggest blessing has always been my family and now more than ever, it’s Joaquin, what’s yours?
You can learn a great deal about your place in this world while surfing. • I can’t say that my first time experience with surfing was phenomenal but I did have a blast and I did take away a big life lesson from it. • I underestimated that ocean. I got crushed by each wave as my instructor pushed me through sets of 3 waves to get me set for one to ride. • I was quickly reminded that we humans are so helpless and insignificant in this world. This world can quickly crush you in an instant because you don’t compare in stregnth. • I fought the waves in the beginning and it wasn’t fun. I got back up on that board after being beat down multiple times because I’m a stubborn person who refuses to gives up. • It wasn’t until the end of my session where I had to start talking to the person in me who fights. I told myself to appreciate the ocean. Respect the ocean and it’s power. Don’t fight something far greater than you. Accept that’s its far mightier. • The fun came after that. • I started getting up on my knees vs just riding the waves on my stomach or falling off my board. I felt more at ease and comfortable in the water. I stopped fearing each wave I had to go through to get my good wave. I became friends with the ocean. • Don’t ever forget that this world is far mightier than you ever will be. It’ll take you in an instant because it can. Respect it. Treat it well. Have fun but never lose respect in the fun. • Love your planet.
I can never perfectly describe how grateful I am that I was invited to be here in San Diego for this retreat. • Yesterday was nothing short of incredible. • I walked onto the beach yesterday morning and the first thing I see is Bethany Hamilton surfing in the ocean. What?!? Pinch me. I’ve looked up to that woman way before I lost my arm and to see her surfing right in front of my eyes?? Come on. • I got to see a group of women, who have some of the most amazing stories, get in the water and overcome adversity right in front of my eyes. My heart was so happy and I truly felt like I was exactly where I needed to be in those moments. • I got to surf for the first time in my life. What a humbling experience that was. • I talked to Bethany about life, our beautiful children, surfing and CrossFit. Pinch me twice. • This trip has been so incredible and my heart is so full with love. • I am blessed and beyond grateful for the opportunity to even be here. I learned, I educated, I listened, I spoke, I shared and I loved. • A big, BIG thanks goes out to my friends at @rxsmartgear. Without you guys, this entire experience would have never happened for me. You guys will always be family to me and my love for you grows and grows. • I can’t wait to share more about this trip in upcoming posts! San Diego, you will always have a piece of my heart now. • Have any of you visited San Diego before?
I encourage you all to live your best lives! • • Stop getting worked up over your followers and your likes. That’s not important. • • Put your phone down today and work up a conversation with someone. Live in the moment. Take a day to go outside and take in some fresh air! Be a kid again! • • Let’s never forget that there’s a whole world out there and it’s not in your phone. • • Tee by: @westendkidsandco Use Code: Joaquin15 for 15% off
I find happiness in a lot of things. • • I love the simplicity of laying in bed and watching a movie with my family. • • I love dancing with my son even when there’s no music. • • I love sitting on my front porch and doing absolutely nothing but sitting quietly. • • I love the calmness in my mind as I push my body through extreme workouts. • • I love life. It’s too short not to live it in happiness. • • I got over the fact that I lost my arm fairly quickly. I lost a limb, but not my life. Your life is far more precious. Don’t ever forget that.
To say it’s been a hectic week is definitely an understatement. • • I’ve been put to the test as a momma and I can’t say I enjoyed it at all. I have cried, I have had meltdowns, I haven’t had a good nights rest and I have made myself stick to my stomach with anxiety. We’ve never experienced Joaquin being so sick with a high fever that persisted and persisted for so long. • • We were scared, we felt useless and quite honestly....we felt lost as parents. This job is not easy and it is the worst feeling in the world to feel so useless to your child as they sit there feeling so horrible. Moms and Dads are a blessing. The things we do for those littles is nothing short of incredible. It isn’t until you have one of your own that you realize just how hard it is to be a parent. No one prepares you for that. • • I had to constantly remind myself this week that I’m doing everything I possibly can and I AM a good momma. Things could be so so much worse and the parents that deal with chronic illness and constant hospital visits are true super humans. • • If you still have your parents around, call them and thank them for being amazing human beings. Their job isn’t easy and they love you more than you could imagine despite any arguments or disagreements you have.
