AN OPEN LETTER TO HIRING MANAGERS Dear sir/ madam, when you INTERVIEW a candidate - Remember these 5 things: 1. Respect is a two-way street. Please respect candidates time and don’t keep them waiting. 2. If you know a candidate is not what you want, stop wasting their time with multiple interviews and tests. Only to get their hopes up. Have a heart! 3. Candidates invest so much time & effort, and even finances into preparing for interviews. The least you could do is read their resume and come to the interview prepared. 4. Once a candidate gives of their time to be interviewed. They deserve feedback. Stop leaving candidates hanging. Grant them closure. 5. Treat candidates as you would like to be treated. Don't judge a book by its cover. Life is unpredictable. The person you reject today, you may need their help tomorrow. It is sad to see the lack of respect and empathy, some recruiters and hiring managers show to jobseekers just because one is looking for employment. It's time we make the recruiting process more humane! - Inspired by Brigette Hyacinth.
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO: WE ARE HOLDING SOMEONE'S ANSWERS TODAY. Have you ever been in a place where you believe God has to show up for you? If you walk down the streets today, you will find someone believing in God to sell bananas worth less than $5 (MK3,500) so that he/ she can get something for the family. Today someone is believing in God for 1 Million US Dollars deal, while some just need $10,000 and they believe their lives will be transformed. We have many believing for way less than that, and their prayers matter. TODAY’S LESSON: Our communities are filled with many solvable problems; I mean problems that can be solved by you and me, but we focus so much on our need to be uplifted and belittle our ability to uplift others. Your prayers, targets, and needs are not too important to ignore other people’s needs. You probably have the answers to what others are looking for. Imagine if we all decided each day to reach out to someone we have the capacity to change his or her life, WE WOULD CHANGE THE WORLD. As we are believing God for the next big step of our lives, may we understand that your big breakthrough might just come when you become someone’s breakthrough. You might be holding a job offer someone can really value. You might have the resources needed to help someone with clothing, school fees, housing, food, gadgets, training etc. Someone just needs your kindness today. Start today, How do you plan to become someone’s blessing today/ this month? ALL THE BEST. #LetsDOthis #TeamMaestros #HappyHumaneDay
THE POWER OF WRITTEN GOALS [How to turn Dreams into Goals] Your dreams only exist in your mind – only when you plan out your dreams and set a determined deadline, and then they become goals. If you see something/ someone you admire, don’t shout “#Goals”, shout “Dreams!” instead – Only shout “Goals!” if you have planned out how and when you will get there. In other words, a goal is a planned out dream with a deadline. Turn your dreams into goals today. The first step to create a goal is to have a clear vision of your dream. I believe you have heard of S.M.A.R.T goals, whether personal or for a company; where you need to make your goals S-Specific, M-Measurable, A- Attainable, R- Realistic and T-Timely. The bigger secret is not in writing them down respectively, but in identifying the objectives and committing to the work needed for you to get there. Remember, discipline is the bridge between your goals and your accomplishments. Goal Setting is the first step in turning the invisible (dream) into the visible, take that step of faith today. All the best #LetsDOthis #TeamMaestros DON'T CHASE DREAMS CHASE GOALS.
LET'S HONOUR & MAKE EVERYONE FEEL SPECIAL What if we knew what God meant for these young students, would we treat them any different? Would we ask them for a selfie? Would we honour them with what they need now so that they can become all they were meant to be? "This project has taught me that you don't need much to help out someone, the little that you have is enough. Coming from a society infested with alcohol and drug abuse and prostitution, it gives me hope that collectively we can change the fate of these young ones, and above all decreasing the overall dropout rate that is rampant in this nation." - @henrymakowa #TeamMaestros #MAGU #LetsDothis
A SMART UNIFORM FOR EVERY STUDENT When asked one parent said, "Uniforms give students a sense of belonging to a particular school and create an identity for the school in the community." Do you also share this sentiment, did your uniform help you identify yourself with your school? #TeamMaestros #LetsDothis #MAGU #MAAP
EDUCATION Vs. LEARNING "Education" is a formal and passive process where knowledge is gained by being taught usually through the use of a curriculum while "Learning" an informal and active process where knowledge is gained through experience with one's curiosity. Education and Learning are very important ingredients to becoming all that you can be. How open you are to learning will help determine your path in life. Education does not just happen at school but school is one key element to education; most importantly, we need to keep improving the content and quality of education, together with the condition of the learning environments which affect the learning process. We must teach the difference between the two to our younger generation. For instance, why do schools ask students to wear uniforms; is to help them in their learning or their education? How does a child get affected when he/ she cant afford a school uniform? When asked most students talked about how the uniforms bring a feeling of belonging/ identity and some said, “It brings a form of equality; school uniforms bring everyone to the same platform, no matter how rich or poor he or she is, there is a feeling of equality amongst those wearing the uniform.” How did wearing a school uniform help you? Rumbie Mlewah - The ambassador of MAAP (Maestros Academic Armour Project) graced the uniform distribution at Mwenyekondo L.E.A Primary School, in Area 36 #Lilongwe under Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU) Chapter. Special thanks to @d_pendame & Anderson So-Miraculous Kayenda for leading #TeamMaestros #MAAP #MAGU
STOP FLIRTING WITH THE IDEA OF GIVING UP. Achieving a goal is a wildly exhilarating thing. If you’re flirting with the idea of giving up, you could be throwing away something wonderful. Just because you have well-outlined goals does not mean all will work in line. There might be pressure, thoughts on uncertainty & failing, challenges telling you that you can't DO THIS, but push yourself to keep going. After all, you’ll never know how close you are to succeeding if you quit now. You see, most people don't quit because challenges were overwhelming, they quit because they were overwhelmed [by the challenges]. If your goal is both good and beneficial, then tell your mind that you are not quitting, you might need to find other means but don't give up. #TeamMaestros #LetsDOThis
