I don’t normally post pictures like this but this year’s Mental health awareness week is focused on body image ⁣ ⁣ Studies report that two-thirds of us have experienced mental ill health at some point in our lifetime and just 13% of us are living with high levels of positive mental health ⁣ ⁣ Northern Ireland has catastrophic levels of mental ill-health issues ⁣ ⁣ I myself was one of those percentages experiencing mental health with chronic depression, anxiety also hating my body and my tattoos ⁣ ⁣ Exercising changed my life boosted my mood, concentration and alertness and It helped me have a more positive outlook on life but also changing my body image boosted my confidence and give me back my self-esteem ⁣ ⁣ We all know how important exercise is for keeping us physically healthy but exercise can also really help us to be mentally healthy too ⁣ ⁣ Research shows that people who exercise regularly have better mental health and emotional wellbeing, and lower rates of mental illness ⁣ ⁣ Improve your sense of control, coping ability, self-esteem and achieving goals will make you feel great and distract yourself from negative thoughts, provide yourself with opportunities and experience new things and ultimately feel better about ourselves and our body’s ⁣ ⁣ No one has a perfect body image everyone has their insecurities and body hangups, I still have them too! Our insecurities are as unique to us as our hair colour, mine might look different than yours but it’s learning to accept and unconditionally value all parts of who you are⁣ ⁣ Exercise changed and saved my life and my mission is to help as many people as possible to change theirs and simply be better than they used to be ⁣ ⁣ &fitness⁣

One of the main things I’ve learned on my journey to my ”better self” is that before you conquer the outside world, you have to master the world inside your mind ⁣ ⁣ You might have all kinds of goals, but if you self sabotage, you never achieve anything⁣ ⁣ Self-doubt creeps into your head at the weirdest moments.
