Amazing first day at the New River Gorge. Made some new friends, saw some amazing views, discovered some cool little critters, and of course, climbed! I got to experience Danny's first 12a , Pockets of Resistance, and then preceded to have my 🍑 handed to me on the 11d, Out of the Bag, just around the corner from it. Couldn't have asked for a better day. Gonna sleep well tonight 😴
Just as conditions were getting good in NY, we decided to chase the humidity and heat by heading down south 🙄😓But if we stayed any longer, we might have never left. This was one of our last climbing days up there. I absolutely loved the climbing up in McKenzie Pond and I am already fantasizing about our next trip back. Thanks @griffith1482, @home_is_where_we_take_it , and @professionalvagrant for the wonderful day out. Shtickums (V4)
Had a blast climbing with these two again!
Congrats to @professionalvagrant for finishing off his project, IHOPP (V7). This problem has been on his mind for years ever since he tried it before we moved out west. It was incredible watching him cruise something he previously couldn't do all the moves on. Good job Danny, now on to the next one! 👊
Excited to be headed back to Snowy Mountain boulders today. Hopefully the rock is dry and we can get some climbing in tonight. Here I am on Derelict Cat (V5). A really fun variation that ends on Cat in the Hat. I can't believe how cool the huecos on this face are! 📸 @professionalvagrant
It was so much fun revisiting the boulders at Nine Corner Lake again. This route was one of the first highballs I ever did. I was a bit surprised that I was able to do this probelm so long ago. But maybe that was also because some key holds were under moss and took some scrubbing to find 🕵️♀️ Senor Scruffy Face (V1) 🧔 📸@professionalvagrant
Apparently there are boulders in Iowa...who knew 😲 Not only were there boulders, but they were super fun. The rock was really interesting with cool pockets and nice friction in a beautifully green (spider infested 😳) setting. Needless to say, I made Danny climb everything first 😏 Here is @professionalvagrant warming up on Tuition Hike (V1).
Since we touched the CDT, we had an honorary dinner of some leftover dehydrated backpacking meals. Pretty cool to see how untouched the CDT still seems to be, compared to the crowds on the PCT nowadays. It took us a while to actually find a marker for it.
