"Funkymothé" Saison Brett aux Fruits de la Passion @lagabiere. As someone who is a huge ambassador of Lagabière products I was not very fond of this beer. It is a Brett Saison with the addition of passionfruit. For starters I feel like there should of been more flavour delivered from the passionfruit and that aspect of things was lacking. Perhaps it's also the concept of canning a wild beer. I simply didn't find the brettanomyces to mingle well with the fruit. Accents of peach and leather with a little kick of spice. Maybe it could of been more acidic. At the end of the day it's a beer I drank and finished. I appreciate every release by these talented brewers. ▫️▫️ ▫️▫️ ▫️▫️

@burdockbrewery "Té" a dry hopped sour ale. I believe this is the 6th Té variant now. Seems like I've been catching quite a few beers lately with a Vic Secret and Simcoe hop pairing. I love Burdock simply for the fact that their brewing style is a rare commodity, especially in Toronto, That signature bone-dry hoppy or sour touch they seem to perfect is usually a treat for my palate. Most of their beers including this one don't seem to come off as tart at all but rather sour alone, there is a difference. I love how they typically deliver on aroma and again minimize the bitterness making it very drinkable with that super dry finish. This variant definitely had a zip of citrus zest to it, noticeably lemon and tangerine notes. Light beer, very pleasant. ◽ ◽ ◽ ◽ ◽

"Cream of Wheat" All Wheat DIPA with Lactose @bellwoodsbeer x @otherhalfnyc. I've been super good on the lactose front lately and have kept my word by avoiding them. With that being said this was the only exception within the last couple months. Reason being was, I could not miss out on the 2 Other Half collab releases from Witchstock 2018. Now something is to be said about an all wheat grain bill which is super rare anytime barely isn't thrown into the mix, at least for a small portion. As a result I think the wheat tamed the added milk sugar in this beer wonderfully. It didn't contribute to so much added sweetness. Using Laurel, Citra, and Motueka hops, this release was a play on with OH's famous "Cream" series. It was nicely balanced with notes of both tropical and citrus fruits. A nice malt backbone to the beer, this was pretty enjoyable. 🔸️ 🔸️ 🔸️ 🔸️ 🔸️

"SUPER A" Double IPA from @brasserieauval. I've been lucky enough to get my hands on several varying styles from Auval with little duplicates. This hoppy beer has that signature Auval touch however I did prefer Arcane 17 and Nordet ipa over Super A. Nonetheless I'd drink this beer any day of the week. This ale with multiple hop additions clocks in at 8%. Very drinkable and extremely fresh. More of a west coast style that's citrus forward with notes of lingering pine. It's interesting because although it is a hoppy beer it's still delicate with hay and floral notes on the nose. A light and crisp malt base with decent carbonation. The palate is grapefruit, tangerine, pine, hops with a decent malt backbone. Excellent beer as always from Brasserie Auval. 🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴

▶️▶️▶️▶️▶️▶️▶️▶️▶️▶️▶️ Here is the new and improved canned version of @dunhambrasserie's popular Cyclope ipa with a rotating duo hop series. We've seen a ton from this series but now it's being canned on the reg and it is much hazier than before. This variant is "Vic Secret/Simcoe" but let's talk about this super interesting beer colour. I honestly cannot say that I've ever seen such a murky swamp water like ipa influenced solely by hops alone. Whatever the case, this brew was fantastic. I like where they've taken this series. Not my favourite choice of hops but hey that's what experimenting is all about, right? The palate picks up quite a bit of peach, grapefruit, resinous hops and some pine. Really tasty and juicy. ◽ ◽ ◽ ◽ ◽

@alchemistbeer "Beelzebub" American Imperial Stout. The Alchemist does it again. I'm prepared to say that this here is the best imperial stout I've ever had coming out of a can. You just don't get hops to this extreme out of a stout or any dark beer for that matter. This can easily be considered a black ipa as I believe the beer clocks in at about 90 IBU. At 8% abv there's relatively no sweetness with this imperial stout which I love. You get plenty of bitter n' roasted chocolate and coffee. Beelzebub pours a beautiful jet black looking like motor oil with a fluffy mocha head. The massive addition of hops actually balances out the dark roast and compliments it beautifully. The taste is roasted malts, bitter chocolate, coffee, pine, hops. A surprisingly crisp beer with some decent carb and is greatly drinkable. Wish I had more. ••• ••• •••

@bissellbrothers "Nothing Gold" @boutchu and I absolutely loved this beer from them. This has to be in my top 5 non fruited ipa's on the year. Simply described as a hoppy ale which of course I would categorize as a New England style ipa. This 8.2% abv beer drank like a 5%. Despite this being one of Bissell's hoppiest brews to date it was super soft and smooth. Hopped with Amarillo, Citra and Eukanot. Huge flavour notes of melon, orange, pineapple, pine and pithy grapefruit. Overwhelmingly dank & juicy, this was so darn satisfying. 🎖 🎖 🎖 🎖 🎖

"Colors That Don't Exist" Sour IPA with VT grown Apples & Aronia Berries. A collaboration between @burlingtonbeer and @stowecider. All the fruit came through beautifully in this beer, including the apples. Just enough of that sour acidity cut through the thick body. Gorgeous colour. I would of enjoyed more hops considering it is an ipa after all. 🔺️ 🔻 🔺️ 🔻 🔺️ 🔻

So when I saw the two breweries both involved in the making of this beer, I honestly couldn't of cared less about what style beer it was. I snatched it faster than you can say "beer" haha. I'm a complete sucker when it comes to @pubbrewskey & @michaelfiset. * What we have here is a Lager Rousse acidified and aged in oak barrels part of the Série Collabo -1. Let me tell you that this is the most elegant red lagered beer I've ever had... leave it to these guys to elevate something so simple. * Right off the top, a huge oak and fruity nose. There's a delicate malt base to the beer. It's overall super well balanced and nicely drinkable despite it's dlight sourness and acidity. Supposedly one part of this assembly was fermented with cherries, surprisingly it's not all that apparent. Woody and almost vinous like notes with some dark berries on the palate. Super nice beer WOW. * * *

Hey beer fam! For those of you who still do not know.. I introduce to you Les Bières Lobeva. @lobevamtl is newly established as of 2018 and founded by three young Québecois men of Italian background. Anthony, Mike & Carm also hail from the East end of Montreal (R.D.P.) where I've spent 30 years of my life. Despite the name itself being new to the commercial beer scene, these brewers have been home brewing together for over 12 years now. Their first beer to hit the market is "Lubriaque" a California Common Ale, which ironically is not "common" here in Quebec or anywhere on the east coast for that matter. I myself have only tried two others of it's style before Lubriaque. * Moving on to the featured beer. "Lubriaque" is brewed with all Canadian malts and locally sourced Québec hops. More specifically Nugget & Northern Brewer hops. This Cali Common is so unique because of it's local twist and the fact that it is dry hopped. The Nugget hops contribute to the beers bitterness and Northern Brewer to the beers aroma and flavour. Also something is to be said about this super cool label. You have to appreciate art like that. Would be nice to get a shout out for the artist. * The beer pours a beautiful copper amber with some sunlight shining through it. A thin head which quickly dissipates but leaves behind a great deal of lacing. On the nose, delicate hops, which are herbal and resinous. Malty and caramel accents are captured. On the sip, a distinct sweet and rich fruity malt. The lightest of bitterness and earthy notes. There's a beautiful caramel and biscuit like profile to this beer. I would even go as far as saying there's almost a burnt caramel like flavour. There's a light carbonation to the beer which is nice. By far the best version of a Cali Common I've had to date. * I urge everyone reading this to give this beer a try. Lobeva has a promising future with several other lines of beer to be bottled and distributed next year. Simply follow their account and keep up with their website for points of sale.

Re-Booted Mix Pack Vol. 5 @wellingtonbrewery "Ice Eater" A Chinook single hop pale ale. I do always enjoy my flavorful pale ales and Chinook was an interesting choice for a single hop. Not my preference by any means but I enjoyed zoning in on those Chinook qualities. A little pine and some hop spice on the backend. A tad resinous with a biscuit malt like blanket covering the palate. An overall easily drinkable beer. ••• ••• ••• ••• •••

"Purple Sour Ranger" @wildcardbrewco A little lost and found beer footage tonight. All I can say is that it's really difficult to screw up a kettle soured beer for me, considering the simplicity and how highly I feel about them. I do love the thought process behind this beer but the farmhouse side of things lacked. Not enough barnyard funk and perhaps more of those black raspberries to come through in flavour. All in all, nice sour, light & crisp effervescent beer. ♠️ ♠️ ♠️ ♠️ ♠️

When I tell you this Triple IPA called "Duplicate" from @finback was so dangerously smooth, I mean it. No hop burn, no alcohol burn however you can tell you're drinking a triple from all the noticeable hops. This beer gives off a ton of ripe fruit... a treat for the palate. The nose is more citrus forward with most of it being orange and lemon. On the sip, first and foremost are waves of peach and kiwi. Followed by notes of strawberry and watermelon. Lastly the beer steers towards some of that pithy grapefruit for the proper finish. A delightful beer from beginning to end. Triples shouldn't have to scare you away 🍻🍻🍻 🍊 🍋 🍉 🍓 🍑 🥝

@fobeerco "From Stardust to Thoughtform" IPA/NEIPA 6.7% abv. A very tasty ipa with a more aromatic and subtle hop touch. Not sure if they went the dry hop route with this one but it's certainly an explosion of tropical fruits on the nose. There's a good malt to juice ratio here, if you will. A tad resinous but well balanced. Juicy qualities and grassy notes accompanied with a mild bitterness. Notes of guava, pineapple, grapefruit and ripe melon equally on the nose and palate. Hoppy Sunday funday beer fam!!! ◾ ◾ ◾ ◾ ◾

Every time the D.B.S.Q. teams up with a Quebec brewery I expect something special to be produced. In this case a collaboration with a brewery I am very fond of @brasseriemilleiles I don't think they get the attention they deserve. Although I have to say this NEIPA took many Quebecers by surprise simply because it really stood out. In a craft world full of neipa's this one was really good. Some might say that this style isn't @brasseriemilleiles forté... all I can say is don't sleep on their beer. Especially their "Limited Series" releases. 🔸️ 🔸️ 🔸️ 🔸️ 🔸️

@microbrasserievoxpopuli (falconer's flight 7 c's) These Vox Pop IPA Democratiques are always a treat. This one being brewed with 8 different hops. Falconer's Flight, Citra, Chinook, Colombus, Centennial, Cascade, Cluster and Crystal. Despite all the hop additions it was quite delicate with a resinous touch. Light tropical flavours. Very nice.
