A recent Monmouth poll found that 78 percent of Americans believe climate change is real and leading to sea-level rise and more extreme weather. That’s up from 70 percent three years ago. The headline-grabbing takeaway: A majority of Republicans — 64 percent — are now believers, a 15-point jump from 2015. . . If 78 percent of Americans believe climate change is having an impact, don't you think we ought to see that same representation from our elected officials? . . Text LOVESNOW to 52886 to let your members of Congress know how you––their constituents––feel about climate change and the steps that still need to be taken to address it. Link to full story in bio.
A huge thank you to @alpenglowsports for hosting us at last week's Alpenglow Winter Speaker Series event! Together, we were able to raise over $27,000 for POW. . . . Thank you to everyone who came out, our amazing volunteers and of course to POW Alliance member @carolinegleich for showing us how adventure and activism are so closely connected!

Happy Valentine's Day, POW family! No matter how you're celebrating, we hope you'll take a minute to send a valentine (or maybe some tough love) to your member of Congress. Text LOVESNOW to 52886 to let them know why you #lovesnow and why climate policy should be a priority. XOXO - POW
Break out your hiking boots folks. In a 92-8 vote yesterday, the Senate passed a sweeping public lands conservation bill, designating more than one million acres of wilderness for environmental protection and permanently reauthorizing a federal program to pay for conservation measures. And we think it's about darn time our public lands saw the love they deserve. Link to story in bio.
Hey, POW community: We already know you're super rad, but we need to know, what inspires you to act on climate and support our efforts? . . . We’ve compiled a survey and hope that you’ll take 10 minutes to fill it out (linked in bio). Our goal is to get better at providing climate leadership and education, connect you with actions you can take and best serve the awesome community that supports us. . . . Yeah, we know surveys are kinda boring, but to sweeten the pot and thank you for your time, we’re giving every person who fills out the survey a free entry to our sweepstakes including awesome prizes from our partners. Hit the link in our bio to take the survey now! 📸 @acpictures
While we wait for other leaders to get their acts together (yeah, @FISAlpine , we’re still looking at you) we wanted to bring you a little good news. After years of silence on climate policy, the momentum in Washington D.C. is ON FIRE right now🔥! From the announcement of the Democratic members of the Special Select Committee on Climate and the House hearings on climate, to the introduction of the Green New Deal last week by Rep. @repocasiocortez and Sen. Markey (whose office we met with last September, by the way), the leadership in D.C. right now is KILLING IT. Let’s keep this energy moving! . . . Link in bio to read more about the Green New Deal! . . . 📸 @jjamesjoiner#lovesnow
Does the @FISAlpine think it’s cool to be led by a climate-denying dinosaur? Because those of us who make up the outdoor and snowsports communities definitely don’t. We don’t have time to tolerate that kind of prehistoric nonsense. 🦕 That’s why we’re calling for the immediate resignation of Gian Franco Kasper as President of the International Ski Federation in response to his denial of human-caused climate change. Join us. We’ve made it easy for you to help us deny this denier by sending a letter directly to the FIS. Hit the link in our bio to make your voices heard. #GiveAFlake#DenyTheDenier
Even dictators believe in human-caused climate change. We are appalled by recent statements by International Ski Federation president Gian Franco Kasper denying human-caused climate change. The snowsports community should be demanding climate action, and not tolerate those who dismiss science to remain in positions of leadership. That’s why we are asking the newly formed Outdoor Business Climate Partnership and the outdoor and snowsports community at large, all of whom rely on a stable climate to power our $887B industry, to join us in calling for Mr. Franco Kasper’s resignation. @protectourwinters will be releasing an open letter statement shortly and launching a campaign demanding Franco-Kasper’s resignation. Please join us in making your voices heard. Hit the link in the bio to read the article as original reported by @deadspin#giveaflake#denythedeniers
