What rock climbing has taught me about life: - You are stronger than you think. - Balance is key. - Embrace the struggle. - You can overcome your fears. - If it were easy it wouldn’t be fun. - Growth happens outside of your comfort zone. - Perfection isn’t the goal. - Be willing to take risks. - Don’t compare yourself to others. - Don’t forget to have fun! 🧗🏽‍♀️🙌. . . Climbing for me can be an emotional rollercoaster. I mentally need time to warm up to the idea of climbing. Often I'm struck by nerves thinking I'm not good enough, and that I'm going to fail while people are watching and judging me. - - But once I'm on the wall and get into the rhythm of climbing all those fears disappear. I then realize I'm my worst critic. Of course I'm not the best climber out there, not by a long shot, but I love climbing and that's all that really matters. - Climbing is awesome because I can see my growth both physically and mentally. I went from being completely scared of standing on a ladder to climbing mountains, learning to lead trad and sport, and cleaning anchors and rappelling down. Of course some days are easier than others while other days I have backed away from routes that I knew I could do but didn't feel it in me. - Those days when I don't feel up for the challenge I'm always surrounded by great people who understand my struggles and support me along the way. - Personally, that's why I love climbing: the physical and mental struggles, the community, the personal growth, and the beauty of climbing up a freaking wall! - You can join me on my climbing and mountaineering adventures @bexie_r. -

Hello, Instagram! I’m Katie, one of the new RCW ! I’ve been climbing for over 15 years, but in the last 3 have been traveling around the west pursuing it in a way I never had before. I finally decided to take the plunge into guiding, and have been working with @she_movesmountains since March. This has opened up a whole new appreciation for climbing and what it means to different people. I love sharing my passion for the mountains and the simplicity of moving on rock. I love watching women from all over the country grow, learn, conquer fears and find strength inside they didn’t know they had. I couldn’t be more excited to grow with this badass community of women and get inspired by ladies near and far! • • • You can follow me @kt_roams! • • Photo 1: @seecaitclimb, photo 3: @torylesh

A little from my first ever bouldering trip outside in Utah! I remember asking my friends “wait how do I fall?!” And they told me to keep my head away from the rock! I remember thinking falling from up high was scary—but it was pretty fun too! For more adventures and goofy faces, follow my blog @senderella_story!

I am super excited to be a new ambassador for RCW! My name is Szu-ting Yi (@szuting928) and I came to the States from Taiwan about 20 years ago for grad school. During my study I found climbing and it soon became my new passion. Recently @alpinistmag just released my article in the issue online (link to the full article please see my profile) and I'd love to share an excerpt from that article about how I felt about climbing when I just started: "IN SUMMER 2007, I was a newly minted PhD in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania, when I decided to devote myself full-time to my newfound interest: climbing. Nine years prior, I'd traveled to the States from my home country of Taiwan to fulfill my parent's expectations for a prestigious higher education. While I loved the intellectual challenges of my studies, after a friend invited me on a trip to the Gunks, I realized how little I understood my own body. I felt thrilled by each discovery: the way that my fingers and toes could pull and press on small wrinkles in weathered cliffs to keep my weight suspended in the air; how a slight hip twist and shoulder rotation could turn vertical movement into something laborsome or effortless. In the mountains, I felt, I could be a protagonist in my own adventures, rather than writing blocks of code and assembling them into programs for computers to carry out." I started as a trad climber but I love all different kinds of climbing: sport, bouldering, alpine, you name it! Hope to see you all out there! Climb on. 📸@davide_anderson me racking gear at castleton tower

Happy Saturday ! We’ve got some new ambassadors to introduce you to, and this times its a two-for one-deal! Because who doesn’t love a good BOGO, amiright? ——— Makayla and Alexandra - @explorationtwins - are twin sisters, best friends, , and climbers. They push for women to feel confident in and to embrace the joys, fears, falls, and all the wonderful uncertainty that comes with it. ____________________________

Hey my name is @gaby_guyman and I’m a new ambassador to the @rockclimbingwomen team! I’m very excited to share my rock climbing images and experiences with all of you. • Climbing has been a passion of mine for many years and has served me in many ways: as a way to bring friends together, a means to be outside, and a conduit for physical and mental growth. Most notably, climbing has introduced me to a community and culture that resonates with my love for outdoor recreation and conservationism. • The presence of women in the climbing world is nothing new. We have been kicking butt for a long time! However, the need for positive role models, encouragement, and empowerment never gets old. I’m excited to be a part of this social platform/community/team that strives to give women a bigger voice and a place in the outdoors. • Follow along on some of my own adventures at @gaby_guyman and stay tuned for more amazing work from the @rockclimbingwomen team!

Hi! My name is DeeDee and I am so honored to be one of the new ambassadors for this fantastic group of rock climbing women🙏! You can follow my climbing/running/yoga/kickboxing exploits @deedeetilley on Instagram and @invisiblenomoredtills on FB and at invisible-no-more.com for my blog😊 ———————————— I started climbing at the tender age of 49 😳 Yes, I was in a midlife crisis, a rather ugly one! Exercise has always been my coping mechanism and our son had been climbing since he was quite young. I suspected that I would like it, so now with all this extra time, it was my chance to find out😊. I was right! I fell in love and now, three years later I climb in the gym, outside, I boulder, sport and lead climb. I love it all! Age really is just a number in your head! We can do this ladies💪. If you are a “mature” climber like me, the send is even sweeter!🧗‍♀️

Hi! I’m @_taystreet, one of ’s new ambassadors 🤗 I’m so stoked to be joining a crew of kickass and to have the opportunity to share a little slice of my climbing journey with all of you. I’ve been climbing for about a year and a half, and in all honestly, this sport has saved my life. It’s saved me from an eating disorder, from self-harm, from suicidal thoughts, and so much more. My life today looks completely different than it did a year and a half ago, thanks, in large part, to climbing. Maybe that’s a little heavy of an introduction, but I just want all you lovely ladies out there to know that you are never alone in your struggles, both on and off the wall. My DM’s are always open if any of y’all ever need someone to confide in or to share the stoke with 🤘 . . P.S. Did you know you can boulder in Central Park?! There are 67 boulder problems in the park, most of which are in the v2-3 range. Even if you aren’t a boulderer, I HIGHLY recommend making time to wrestle some pebbles if you’re ever in the Big Apple. New York City’s energy provides such a unique backdrop for climbing and I haven’t been able to stop daydreaming about these boulders since I climbed them this spring!

Hey! Meet one of our newest ambassadors, Eunice (@euniventures.. Eunice is a PNW native, currently located in Portland, Oregon. . While she has a deep love for snacks (pictured enjoying trail mix and Cheez its), climbing (currently sport, but trad soon!), puns, and exploring, the most excitement comes from introducing and helping people find their own through the world of climbing, much in the same way climbing impacted her life when she stepped into @source.climbing six years ago (opening her up to @pdxclimbersofcolor and @pnwoutdoorwomen since). . She hopes to encourage and inspire others to get out of their comfort zones and to continually push their limits, in whatever way that means to them. Follow her adventures/mishaps @euniventures. If you’re ever in the PDX metro/PNW area (or out at Red Rock in Las Vegas this winter), reach out and come climb!! Always looking for new friends to crush with. Happy sending! .
