She wasn’t waiting for a knight, she was waiting for a sword. Had a great time teaming up with Transitions Equestrian Center to pull off our Warrior themed look. It was a fantastic collaboration of highly skilled people doing what they do best. @marcullom@nikcan84@jessicacondonphoto@looks_by_kate97@ashcraft.m ____________________________________

I don’t remember a time in my life where horses weren’t there. They’ve run in my filies long before I was ever even thought of. If they weren’t working horses from our ranch, they were grandmas horses on her farm, if I wasn’t in the show ring or arena, I was in the saddle elsewhere, most likely on a trail ride or chasing our neighbors cattle. I’ve been given old photographs of generations before me of my fily where horses were almost in every image. My mom tells me stories of when she’d run races with her cousins through the pastures or when my grandmother would ride her black beauty to school for work(she was a bada$$ school teacher). I blessed to come from a fily of real farmers and ranchers where your mount really was a part of your daily existence. I’ve survived some pretty insane horse accidents and have watched parts of my heart die in my hands. I blessed to own 5 healthy happy horses that keep me sane and that have helped others fight their own internal battles daily. I don’t take them for grant it. I can’t. They are ingrained in my soul, they have molded me, and they have given me so much in return for the little I do for them. And I thank God everyday for that beautiful gift and hope that I can share it with others. • • •

Recently I’ve been discovering my mental mode. I’ve been more observant to things I take an interest in or respond to and focused on what makes me tick and what makes me me. It’s not as simple as saying, oh I like horses, the mental mode drives deeper. It’s about why I like horses, what is it about them that constantly draws me back, what little detail do I like the best in a scene. It’s really about analyzing yourself. Discovering our mental mode is important as a creative and allows us to continue being who we are and sharing new perspectives and ideas with others. • • •

Most of the time I enjoy reading people’s posts along with seeing their photographs. Often people have something relevant or inspiring they want to share with the rest of the world and that’s great. However in social media today it almost seems like if your going to post a photo you must have a caption. That’s actually a lot of work sometimes especially if you post a lot. To be honest, I get tired of writing something every time I post a photo and think it’s actually unnecessary to do so unless I compelled to say something. I don’t like saying something just to say something. I let the photo speak for itself. So with that, I leave you a simple picture of a beautiful horse. Enjoy the rest of your week! ___________________________

This gorgeous Shetland broodmare was my favorite out of the herd. She had no training but was the most expressive and so curious about who I was and what I was doing. The secret to getting some fantastic expressions is by peaking the horses interest. Fear should never be brought to the shoot or used to get an artistic photograph. The best photographs are caught when the horses feel safe in the environment you put them in and they can let down their guard and be themselves. It’s your job to create that safety net for them. @mcsminiatures ___________________________
