2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣8️⃣ was hands down the best yet! Snow, books, vacations, dogs, family, friends, coworkers and celebrations, and a sweet sweet Mathew to experience everything with this year and for forever to come! Cheers to 2019 and all that it holds! 🥂Happy New Year, friends!! 💕
On December 14th Matt gave me an early Christmas present - an ornament with an S and an ornament to hold a photo. He then brought out two truck ornaments that’s he’s collected over Christmases past (quite appropriate if I say so myself 😉). As he put one on the tree, I opened the other box to find the ring in the bed of the truck ornament. Matt dropped to one knee to propose, and then said he wanted us to start a new tradition of exchanging ornaments each December 14th so “in 50 years our tree is covered in 100 ornaments about us.” What a perfect moment! #justsaidyes@weddingwire@mbshreve
Book #6 I downloaded this for free on my Kindle app and it was a great read! I had never thought about what happened to all the planes airborne on September 11, 2001 when the airwaves were closed. This story is a quick and easy read that tugs at your heartstrings and restores your faith in humanity. This little town in Newfoundland more than doubled as they took in almost 1000 passengers, human and animal, and provided shelter, food, and support when Americans and the world needed it most!
Book #5 I’m a tad bit late to the party, but I’ve finally finished “Girl, wash your face!” Now, I get an almost daily dose of Rachel Hollis via social media and podcasts. She’s raw, real, and funny in this book. While you may not relate to everything, the lessons she’s learned (and share) are relatable and great nuggets of advice for our own lives. She gives you that kick in the behind we sometimes need (I know I do). Some of my favorite things she shared are: “When you really want something, you will find a way. When you don’t really want something, you’ll find an excuse.” “But I’ve learned that along with my list of goals, I gave to give myself some grace.” 👈🏻 “God has perfect timing, and it’s highly possible that by being where you thought you should be, you will end up exactly where you’re meant to go.” 🙌🏻🙏🏼 #girlwashyourface#rachelhollis#readmore
#Repost@stannepacelli with @get_repost ・・・ Over 80 storybook pumpkins are on display in our Lower School Media Center and more are arriving each day! Pre-K4 through 5th graders are invited to participate in the special pumpkin patch. So far, there are well-known characters like Harry Potter and Fancy Nancy, as well as a few surprise entries like Heidi and Marie Antoinette.
Book #4 Chris Stirewalt is nothing short of a genius! I enjoy listening to him every week on the “I’ll Tell You What” Podcast (along with my favorite, Dana Perino) as he is full of knowledge, random facts, and passion for his family, food, West Virginia, and the US. So when his first book became available I had to get it (and secure my own signed book plate too!) Every Man A King traces the evolution of populism in America through seven key figures from Andrew Jackson to Teddy Roosevelt and Huey Long. It was fascinating to learn this described “popcorn history” complemented by a podcast series diving deeper into the lives and rationale of each figure. One of my favorite lines in the books comes at the end of the acknowledgement as he says, “And maybe that’s (laughter) what we need a good dose of these days. Politics is too important to take so seriously.” A humbling reminder for us all, especially on days that we shake our heads at the news of the day, is from Chris’ dedication to his young sons entrusting in them, and the generations to come, that “keeping this republic will be your job, not mine.... You are the ones who will get to decide what to do with this inheritance - the last, best hope of earth. Knowing you, I could not be more pleased with our chances.” Oh my heart! 💗
Love these people, their work ethic, and dedication to the students at St. Anne-Pacelli! ❤️💙 #Repost@stannepacelli with @get_repost ・・・ We’re growing in wisdom, grace and numbers! Enrollment is up to 721 students and new applications are still being processed. Shoutout to our awesome Admissions Director Julie Davis for her hard work!
Book #3 - Political book and celebrity memoir - This book checks both of those boxes, and helped me restart my reading that has been lax and overrun by the demands of my masters program. Upon learning of Charles’ terminal diagnosis, I finally ordered his book Things That Matter. I was one who for so long was not aware of the permanent effects of his accident. He did not let his situation dictate the course of his life. He completed medical school, practiced as a physician, before entering into the world of news and politics. He had a brilliant way of composing his thoughts and communicating them in print and in his speech. His resolve and dedication to his work, friends, and family are lessons we should all strive to follow. #resolutionreadmore#gottacatchup#52booksin52weeks
